A deeper look at AI coding tools

If you're a solopreneur trying to build AI-powered products or automate parts of your business but you're not exactly a coder, you're not alone. The good news? As far as AI coding tools go, Cursor and Replit are probably the two most popular ones. They are making it easier than ever to bring your ideas to life without needing a CS degree.
But which one should you choose? This week, I’ll take a look at a comparison of Replit vs Cursor for AI-assisted coding. Think of it as your shortcut to choosing the right tool for your next side hustle, SaaS project, or client deliverable.

Cursor

Replit
TL;DR Recommendations
Choose Replit when…
You want a zero‑install, browser IDE that runs on any device.
One‑click hosting + a live URL matter more than deep AI refactors.
Choose Cursor when…
You’re comfortable with Git/GitHub on your laptop.
You need large‑context AI editing (up to ≈1 M tokens) inside a VS Code‑style app. The large context means that it will be able to look through your entire code base if you have a larger project.
Optional: You can plug in your own OpenAI key to go beyond the built‑in GPT‑4 quota. Both tools democratize coding; pick the workflow that removes the most friction for your current goal. 🐙
